Welcome – Amy
- Welcome any new volunteers, visitors
- Round robin introductions
- Amy shared news about her retirement and change in roles from president to volunteer
Downtown Rewind Financials
- Broke even budget wise – more money from food trucks than expected, carnival truck game was a win, Town picked up the DPW costs, only one police detail, Signarama traded sponsorship for event signage
- Money saved goes back towards our event fund – Yay!
- Think about other games for the future – kiddie pool with ducks to pick, fishbowl toss with ping pong bowls, larger Plinko board
- Check out the Topsfield Fair for inspiration
Member of the Month – Ashley and Jocelyn
- Mike Trainor
Summer Night Lights Debrief – All
Event budgeted for $46,900 with largest expenses being Town personnel (DPW, police, and fire) and the fireworks themselves.
- POSITIVES
-
- Fireworks show was AMAZING!
-
- Great attendance
-
- Town happy with planning and safety – staffing on point, fire happy with pyro vendor, traffic under control, minimal police intervention
-
- Sponsors were thrilled with the attendance and participation
- NEGATIVES
-
- Music was staticky during fireworks show – work with sound engineer and band sooner
-
- Add speakers by the tennis courts and food trucks – use power from light towers
-
- Food truck lines were long –add more trucks and some with quick options
-
- Consider another band for next year to switch it up
-
- Pair down activities and focus on food, music, and light up novelties
-
- Volunteers to walk around to sell light up novelties an hour or so before the fireworks for $5
Parade and Tree Lighting Planning – All
- Date of event is Saturday 12/7
- Timing of event 4 – 5:30p, set up sooner for activities
- Block from Cherry to Elm
- Secure Santa (Jen Breaker to help with this)
- Important to flush out route, staging and end areas
- Feedback from last year – move cones back a bit to accommodate parade vehicles, need microphones and speakers, dancers and Girl Scouts to be part of the parade (on float or walking)
- Entertainment options – DJ, DHS marching band, HRMS chorus, Maple Street Choir, Danvers Girl Scouts, Dance Center of Danvers, PARADE
- Impersonators/Photo Ops – The Grinch, Elsa or other Disney princesses (Spark a Dream)
- Activities – reindeer food, card making for military, ornament decorating
- Food Trucks – fried dough, popcorn, Whoopie Wagon
- Reach out to Downtown businesses
- Repurpose items from Light Up Danvers bags
Open Discussion
- Need to continue to advocate with Finance Committee and Select Board for Town funding
- Consider revamping the Kiwanis Pancake Breakfast as a fundraiser – Spring
- Consider family field day at Danvers Indoor Sports – Winter
- Discuss Winter Bonfire plans sooner rather than later – donut truck (Good Night Fatty)
- Revisit monthly open meeting dates and times – looking like Mondays work best, awaiting final poll results
Next Meeting – Tuesday 10/8/24 at 7p at the Danvers Fire Headquarters
