Downtown Rewind Debrief 

• Sponsor feedback 
  • Honda North – founder was very proud of the event.  We had everything ready to go. 
  • Winchester Savings – said it was well run 
  • Kiwanis – we generated a lot of smiles 
  • DCC – fun evening 
  • Dance Center of Danvers – already planning for next year, would like to do more with the band next year 
  • Orthodontics of NS – had a great time, really engaging.  They were very impressed. 
• Feedback from the room 
  • Was busy 
  • Rough guess was 4,000 attendees compared to last year 
  • Need to ask DCAT if they got any footage 
  • Not a trace of evidence left after the event at 8:45, nice and tidy 
  • Was most fun and best attended community event in Danvers in recent memory 
  • This year was very hot.  The sunny side of the street was tough.  For more vigorous activities put them on the shady side of the street.  Sunny side tables/activities must have tents for shade. 
  • Need more sport games, carnival games, stuff for boys 
  • Misting stations for heat needed 
  • Volunteers need a pre-event meeting with all signed up volunteers present 
    • Leads explain what they are doing and what’s happening in their area 
    • Get to meet everyone ahead of time 
  • People were asking for wipes, for kids sticky hands 
  • Every volunteer that signed up showed up, which might be a first 
  • Selfie walls didn’t draw a lot of attention, not a good use of volunteer time 
    • Maybe condense them into one area, run with fewer people 
  • Re-visit offering water at our DFF booths 
    • Or possibly suggest sponsors give away water, good hook on a hot day 

 

Summer Night Lights

  • Let crowd know to look for bright neon voluteer shirts if they have a problem, kids should look for them if they get lost 

• Map 
  • We have 23 sponsors 
  • Amy will check-in the sponsors at the VIP parking area 
  • Restrooms are consolidated in one spot 
  • Home Depot donated the snow fencing 
  • Highschool is off-limits, as is the stadium 
  • Find a space for Paige to do sidewalk chalk picture frames, maybe in spaces against middle knoll across from atrium entrance? 

• Look into electronic 50/50 raffle 
  • Maybe use Cheddar Up QR code, customer pays the fee 

• Activities, timing 
  • 8:45 start for the fireworks.  What about music between when the band stops and the fireworks start?  Will advertise 8:30 start. 
  • Dunk tank, with at least 4 victims taking turns 
  • Face painting, tattoos 
  • Lawn games: cornhole, connect4 
  • Stuff-a-falcon (like build-a-bear) 
  • Trucker hat artist (waiting for confirmation) 
  • Sand Art 
  • Danvers History Trivia 
  • Pie tasting contest 
  • Something like sack races 

• Social Media 
  • Sponsor recognition 
  • Food truck highlights 
    • Could the trucks please send us info about what they are offering soon so we can market it

  • Should do some messaging about the style of fireworks

Misc discussion 

• Are we looking for more sponsors?  We are always looking, wouldn’t turn away the help.  However Summer Night Lights is closed for sponsors because there are already so many. 

• Tree Lighting – would we get sponsors for that?  Not directly.  The Town is really supporting that event.  Maybe we could use sponsor help to expand the parade?
